Meals:

It has always been the desire of the Convention Organisers that the total cost of the Convention should be as low as possible to enable as many CBMC members and friends from around the world attend. Had we included meals supplied by the Convention Centre’s catering company we would have had to increase the cost of registration by between 300. This is unacceptable.

Breakfast:

All delegates are recommended to enjoy breakfast at their hotel/guesthouse before arriving at the Waterfront Hall.

Coffee/Tea Breaks.

There will be scheduled Coffee/Tea breaks both in the morning and afternoon. Refreshments can be purchased at a number of points across the Waterfront Hall.

Lunch (mid-day).

The organisers have arranged for a number of quality ‘street vendors’ to provide discounted meals for CBMC Convention delegates at a location less than five minutes walk for the Waterfront Hall. There is a restaurant and there are bars in the Waterfront Hall should delegates wish to use them. A variety of local restaurants are within five minutes walk from the Waterfront Hall. We would encourage delegates to make full use of the opportunity to sample some of Ireland’s finest produce by purchasing their midday meal from our select Street Vendors.

Evening Meal.

Dinearound is our term for making full use of the large number of quality restaurants and eateries across Belfast’s City Centre. We will provide you with a diverse list of restaurants who will serve CBMC delegates with the highest quality food at highly competitive prices.

Accommodation

The organisers have provided two means to help you find accommodation.

On our website www.belfast2018.com follow the link ‘accommodation’ this will take you to a bespoke accommodation booking page provided for the CBMC Convention by Belfast City Council’s tourist agency Visit Belfast. There you will find a range of accommodation sufficient to meet the financial needs of all international delegates. We have been assured that all prices quoted have been discounted for CBMC delegates.

Should you wish to book accommodation via a travel agency company we have contracted with Orr’s Travel your Convention contact is Joyce McCullough Joyce.McCullough@orrstravel.co.uk. Orr’s Travel have also arranged two bespoke CBMC package tours should CBMC groups wish to spend time in Ireland after the Convention. Any groups who book through Orr’s Travel can also benefit from their meet and greet facility.

Sightseeing Tours.

It is customary for international delegates at a CBMC World Convention to sign up to a sightseeing tour of the host city. As Belfast has so much to offer we have arranged for delegates to have a choice of tours from which to purchase. These will range from a city open top bus tour to a proposed C S Lewis walk or a visit to Northern Ireland’s Folk and Transport museum. Tours can be purchased in the Waterfront Hall Reception Area on the Thursday and Friday of the Convention.

Travel to and from the Waterfront Hall

The majority of the recommended hotels and guest houses are within easy walking distance from the Waterfront Hall. Should delegates require a taxi to the Waterfront Hall they are recommended to leave plenty of time as traffic in Belfast City Centre is very slow. The Waterfront Hall is one of Belfast’s landmarks and known by all taxi drivers.

Travel to Belfast

There are two airports attached to Belfast.
Belfast International Airport is located 15 miles from the city centre.
George Best Belfast City Airport is located 2 miles from the city centre.
Frequent buses and taxis are available from both airports. Hotels can be asked to arrange pick up. Be aware that a taxi from Belfast International Airport can be expensive.

All of the above and more is available by browsing the Convention Website www.belfast2018.com. Both a ‘Contact the Organisers’ and an ‘Information’ facilitate are available on the website.

Looking forward to seeing you in Belfast in June 2018
